OUR UNION

For more than 120 years, Sheet Metal Workers Local 36 has devoted ourselves to building value for the area’s signatory contractors. We’ve helped these companies grow their profitability by identifying new opportunities, providing support and connecting them to the safest, most skilled and most highly trained workforce in the industry.

The contractor profitability is as important to us as the protection of our workers. We’ve torn down the perceived barriers between the two by creating a mutually beneficial working environment.

Thanks to the Local 36 and Contractor Industry Training Center, members build their skills at the regions best state-of-the -art SMART training facility and contractors get the most qualified workers in the area. Our compensation program provides members with a good living wage while reducing contractor’s staffing costs. Our flexible workforce means contractors have the staff in place to bid on the most profitable contracts and keep talented sheet metal workers employed.

We invite you to explore the information on this website and learn how Local 36 can work for you.

BE4ALL seeks to positively impact the unionized sheet metal industry’s work culture so that we can attract and retain the best, most skilled sheet metal workers – and in doing so, affirm the dignity of every person who walks through our doors.

As the Longshoreman strike continues, we stand in full support of our brothers and sisters fighting for fair wages, safe working conditions, and protection from automation. While disruptions may affect industries and communities, let’s not lose sight of who’s truly at fault here – it’s not the workers demanding their rightful share. The blame lies with the corporations refusing to meet fair terms. In moments like these, unity is key. As union members, we know the power of standing together to protect the future of all working people. Let’s continue to show our solidarity with the Longshoremen as they fight for a better tomorrow for every worker. 💪👷‍♂️ #SolidarityForever #UnionStrong #SupportTheStrike #WorkersRights #StrongerTogether"We and our brothers and sisters in the ILAU are fighting the same fight. They have reached an impasse while negotiating fair working conditions and wages, and safeguards against the threat of autonomous operations. Much like the railroads, their employers would like to replace workers with technology, at the expense of their safety and job security."www.smart-union.org/smart-td-stands-in-solidarity-with-longshoremen-as-they-prepare-to-strike/ ...
