Sheet metal workers take flat sheets of metal and create 3D systems that save lives, make living and working more comfortable, and define the St. Louis skyline. Unionized sheet metal is the only industry that touches every point of the construction project, from design and fabrication to installation and system balancing.

HISTORY

For more than 120 years, Sheet Metal Workers’ Local 36 has worked on nearly every piece of the St. Louis skyline, including the Gateway Arch. Because of that, generations of Local 36 members have pointed to the St. Louis skyline and said, “I built that.” We take pride in our work. And you could be the next generation shaping our city’s landscape. The Local 36 Sheet Metal Apprenticeship and Training School is a LEED-certified facility with the equipment, hardware and software to practice the skills past generations have perfected and master new technology that will propel the industry forward. More than 400 apprentices and journey-level workers receive training in the facility every year.
